Plastic is not readily biodegradable and can remain in the environment for hundreds of years before decomposing. Leather is treated with chemicals that end up in the environment, polluting it.

The search for new ecological solutions has allowed to produce recycled materials that can be used in the manufacturing of soles while respecting nature. Back in 1994 Vibram designed the first pioneering eco-compound, which has since become the global benchmark for recycled rubber for shoe soles.

The hike in the mountains in spring

In spring, even in the mountains, we have mild temperatures and snow remains only in the highest areas. Consequently, footwear that offers high performance protection from the cold to the feet is not necessary, on the contrary: wearing too heavy boots we could run into excessive sweating.
In the mountains, in this season, the weather is more changeable, so it’s preferable to use shoes that ensure good breathability and waterproofing, because there could be showers.
